Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been an Greek American columnist, author and businesswoman for over 20 years. She founded The Huffington Post and the CEO of Thrive Global. Author of over 15 books. Arianna Huffington is a journalist TV personality, philanthropist, and TV host as well as the owner and publisher of The Huffington Post. She moved out of Greece to England at the age of 16 and earned an MA from Cambridge University in Economics. In her 21st year, she was president of the renowned debate society The Cambridge Union' and was the first foreign born student in the history of Cambridge University to be elected. The success of her columnist of the conservative side was confirmed after she graduated. When the Huffington Post was launched The Huffington Post a few months later, she launched an online platform for voice that gave critiques of the political situation. Her fame led to the recruitment of a variety of renowned contributors. Arianna became famous after she decided in 2003 to run as an Independent candidate for the California Recall Election to replace the former governor Davis. In addition, she led the Detroit initiative to promote fuel-efficient cars. Her name was voted as the most Influential Women in Media in 2009 by Forbes in 2009, gaining the 12th place in the list. The same year, the Guardian listed her among the 100 most influential media on their list. AOL purchased The Huffington Post from AOL in the year 2011. She was then made the president of the AOL media group. It included a number of AOL-owned brands, including Engadget AOL Style List and Patch Media. Her parents were journalist and manager Konstantinos and his wife Elli Stasinopoulos. Though she was close to her father, it was her relationship with her mother which shaped her character. She was a leader throughout her childhood. When she moved to England, she was 16 to continue her education and was enrolled into Girton College Cambridge. During her college days she was a member of the college debate society Cambridge Union where she became the first foreign and third female president. She graduated in 1972 with a degree in Economics. After after graduation she worked as a critic columnist and television host. Alongside Bernard Levin she appeared on an edition of Face the music.
