Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist, is also an author. She co-founded The Huffington Post the founder and CEO of Thrive Global and the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington is a writer, television personality, philanthropist and also the proprietor and editor of The Huffington Post. Born in Greece Arianna Huffington immigrated to England together with her family around 16 years old. While at Cambridge University she earned a MA qualification in Economics. First foreign-born graduate to be elected president of the highly regarded debate group The Cambridge Union, at 21 years old she took over the presidency. As a conservative syndicated blogger following her graduation, she went on to become a voice of the Huffington Post. The fame of Arianna led to the recruitment of a number of prominent contributors to share their views on current events, politics and culture. Arianna gained fame after she decided to become an Independent candidate in the California Recall Election in order to succeed former Governor Davis. Additionally, she was involved in a Detroit-based project that promoted fuel-efficient automobiles. Forbes named her as 12th on its top 10 list of Most Influential Media Women. Guardian also included the HuffingtonPost in their list of the top 100 in 2010. AOL, Inc. appointed her President of their media group in 2011, after they acquired The Huffington Post. The Huffington Post was joined by other AOL brands such as Engadget AOLmusic Style list as well as Patch Media. Elli Stasinopoulos was a daughter born to Konstantinos a management advisor and a journalist. Her life was shaped by the closeness she had to her mother, and the bond she shared with her father even though she was very close to the latter. At an early age, she displayed leadership qualities that are still highly regarded. At the age of 16years old, she emigrated from America to United Kingdom and enrolled Girton College Cambridge. While in college she joined the debating society Cambridge Union where she became the third foreign, and first female president. She graduated in 1972 with an advanced degree in Economics. After after graduation she was a critic columnist and television host. Also, with Bernard Levin she appeared on an edition of Face the music.
