Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and businesswoman. She is a founder of The Huffington Post and the chief executive officer of Thrive Global. Author of fifteen books. Arianna Huffington is an independent liberal news outlet and a television host as well as a writer and an philanthropist. Originating from Greece she was able to move to England at the age of 16 and graduated from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. As the first non-English speaking student, she was elected president of The Cambridge Union' at age 21. In the years following after her college graduation, she became an influential right-wing syndicated reporter. A few more years later she created The Huffington Post which featured critical commentary on the current political scene. Her fame has helped attract a number of famous contributors. Arianna became famous in 2003 as she stood in California's recall vote, to succeed Governor Davis. Additionally she also led the Detroit Project for fuel-efficient cars. She was named one of the Most Popular Women in Media according to Forbes in 2009, gaining the 12th place in the list. That same year Guardian listed her among the 100 most influential media on their list. AOL Inc. purchased The Huffington Post, and she was made president of the media company. It included a variety of AOL properties of that time, including Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. Elli was the daughter of Konstantinos the journalist and management consultant. She was extremely close to her father. However, it was the relationship she had with her mother who has shaped her. As a child, she showed leadership traits that she's still known for. At the age of 16, she moved to Britain to pursue her studies and was enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. In her college years, she belonged to Cambridge Union. Cambridge Union debating group where she became the first woman and the only president from outside the country. The year 1972 was the year her master's in Economics was conferred. After her graduation she worked as a columnist critic, and an anchor on TV. In addition, along with Bernard Levin she appeared on the show Face the music.
