April Ross
April Ross, a beach volleyball player American is part of a select group of women who have been awarded medals at more than one Olympics. Ross will compete in Tokyo for her 3rd Olympic medal alongside Alix Klineman, who is a first time Olympian. But more than that, Ross will be aiming for her very first Olympic gold. And at the age of 39, this might be her last chance accomplish this. However, she remains optimistic that most prestigious prizes are in reach. Ross was born in 1982 in Costa Mesa California where she resided with her parents and sister. She then went on to compete across a variety of activities during her time at Newport Harbor High School. Apart from playing indoor volleyball, she also played tennis and also jogged track when she was a pre-professional athlete. In the last sport she clearly stood out. According to her biography, she was an outside blocker as well as a middle hitter on the volleyball court during her time in high school. She was awarded one of the Gatorade National Circle of Champions Player of the year in 1999 for her achievements. In 2000, she won the Orange County Athlete of the Award for volleyball. Ross and Klineman started their partnership in 2017, but Ross had been a major volleyball player for years before. Her name has appeared in major events with different teams. One of them has become an icon of the volleyball world. Between 2007-2013 she played alongside Jennifer Kessy who more recently was Klineman's coach. Alongside Kessy Ross was an ace in the international scene, winning one of the biggest titles in the world in 2009. In 2012, the team won silver at London's Olympics. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) as well as Misty Maytreanor were the winners, ahead of them. Margie Ross, Ross' mother, did not have the chance to watch her daughter grow into famous in beach volleyball.
