Zoe Saldana was born on June 19, 1978 in Passaic, New Jersey, to Asalia Nazario and Aridio Saldana. The father of Zoe Saldana is Dominican and her mother is Puerto Rican. Her mother is Puerto Rican and her father was Dominican. The family she was raised with moved from Queens in New York, to the Dominican Republic when she was 10-years-old; they stayed in the Dominican Republic for 7 years. In the Dominican Republic, Zoe discovered a keen passion for performance dancing and started her studies at the world-class ECOS Espacio de Danza Dance Academy where she learned ballet as well as other dance forms.
